SALT was created from a genuine desire to help people achieve positive health in all aspects of their life. Our training strengthens and conditions your body, helping you restore and/or maintain health, mobility and strength. Our training is progressive and safe and supports physical competence for any area of life. The sessions are fun, dynamic and above all give real results. We train in a way you never have before - every exercise works on multiple parts of the body, combining the best of cardio, weight training, yoga and high intensity interval training all in one. Your reaction time will improve, core strength will skyrocket and we’ll help you create a natural, symmetrical body that looks good, feels more agile and is not injured as easily. By challenging your body in every possible direction, you’re also guaranteed to naturally engage in a full-body workout that will burn serious calories.

SALT is about making exercise an enjoyable experience in a fun, easy going and natural environment. This doesn’t mean you won’t be pushed (quite the opposite!) but it does mean you’ll love every minute. SALT has been designed to provide friendly, down to earth sessions where your trainer is dedicated to helping you reach your goals. Your trainer is caring, well educated and passionate about health, fitness and nutrition. He is here to help you, so please don’t be afraid to ask if you need a little extra advice and guidance.

GREEN EXERCISE

Our training is primarily based outdoors in your local park or beach to complement therapeutic intervention. Being close to nature and the elements improves your sense of well-being, gives greater feelings of revitalization, increases energy and positive engagement just to name a few.

Salt is an entirely new training and coaching method designed specifically for all types of surfers and boardriders who want to improve their performance, health and fitness. We train in a way you never have before - assisting you to reach your mental and physical potential. Every exercise works on multiple parts of the body, combining the best of functional movement, body weight, strength and conditioning training principles all in one. Our variety of programs will improve your mobility, agility, strength, coordination, endurance, flexability and core stability to build a strong foundation and get full body results, helping you make the most out of the sport you love. We offer specific training sessions and customised programmes to help transform the way you move and in turn improve your performance. Our sessions are fun, dynamic and above all give real results. We train for all levels of ability, fitness and age, groms to adults, from professional to complete beginners. Surfer, boardrider or not, you’ll love training with us. Groups, semi-private and private. In the park, on the beach or in your own home depending on your preference. Don't live in the area? Train with us from anywhere online!

The Trainers

FOUNDER - MARCOS FREITAS

Marcos is the founder of “Salt Performance Training”, a synthesis of his long-term passion for physical conditioning, movement in nature, his extensive knowledge of physical education, and his personal philosophy of life.

Marcos was born and raised in Florianopolis, Brazil, a city/island known for it’s healthy, active and natural living. At a young age he found his greatest love in sport - surfing. His life was spent outdoors exploring the surrounding island, lands and oceans and would travel across various terrains in search of the best local breaks with his mates. Marcos’s parents would also take him to a local University of Physical Education where he learnt and participated in various sporting practices such as swimming, power yoga, capoeira, jiu jitsu, judo and soccer until his teenage years. In his late teens, Marcos went into military training where he trained cross fit in both natural and urban settings, day and night for years. He loved it all and was inspired by his coaches. One day he decided, he would do the same.

In 2004 Marcos decided to follow his own path and moved to Australia to live out his dream. While living, training, and instructing in Australia, he worked on synthesizing his knowledge, experience, methods, and principles into the creation of an entirely new training and coaching method. Salt Performance Training was born. Designed specifically for surfers who wanted to improve their overall performance, health and fitness. Training in a way never done before - assisting others to reach their mental and physical potential. Every exercise works on multiple parts of the body, combining the best of functional movement, body weight, strength and conditioning training principles all in one. Marcos’s Salt programs improve mobility, agility, strength, coordination, endurance, flexability and core stability to build a strong foundation and get full body results. Wanting all to benefit from his training, he created customised programs for all types of surfers, levels of ability, fitness and age.

Marcos has a vast knowledge in different dietary requirements, healthy food preparation and nutrition. He also has a clear passion for fitness and movement in nature and hands on experience in motivating all levels of fitness to achieve great results. He is highly disciplined and focused on understanding the human body and it’s capacity for movement. A big believer of fresh air and open spaces Marcos primarily trains outdoors in a friendly, down to earth manner. Marcos is dedicated to your health and happiness both physically and mentally through exceptional training and positive personal relationships.

ACCREDITATION

A fully certified Personal Trainer with the Human Performance Centre (HPC), certified Level 1 Surf Coach and Level 1 Surf Judge with an accreditation from Surfing Australia, Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coach with accreditation from Australian Strength Conditioning Association and ZUU Level 1.

10WK PROGRAM

AGES 18+

Our Womens group semi-private 10 week program is custom designed for those who would like to improve their surf and performance. Our classes will make all the difference, helping keep your pop ups fast and explosive, keep your paddle muscles toned and your body flexible and strong to minimise your risk of injury. Get fit, have fun and improve your surf. All fitness levels welcomed. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been dominating the line up for years, you’ll benefit from this form of training.

MICRO, GROM + JNR
10WK PROGRAMS

AGES 4-18

Fun and engaging group semi-private 10 week program designed to build a strong and positive lifelong attitude to movement and sport, created for all levels of ability and fitness. Our training will assist them in reaching their mental and physical potential, working on multiple parts of the body and mind. To help improve mobility, agility, strength, coordination, endurance, flexibility and core stability to build a strong foundation and get full body results.

LOCATIONS
